To improve the education information in public aquariums

I'm always surprised at the vast sums of money ploughed into design and the little (if any) put into information about the creatures habits etc within the

displays.
I find it somewhat disrespectful to the living critter if the public are not allowed to know more about their natural life style by diseminating this extra 'real

world' information (in an interesting manner) to the passing public.

I would like to see an improvement in the displayed education information in public

aquariums.....

An idea:
The use of visual info and narration, in the form of researched moving image clips on touch screen technology as would be informative

and entertaining to the general public and respectful to the exhibits as it could portrait their wild life antics... if they were wild.

You do not learn their true

identity whilst passing an exhibit in a contained artificial environment..... but it could be revealed a little more, with a little more vision and respect to their purpose of

being displayed.

How true is that!
I guess the public dont know what they are missing and so wont feel missing out.. only the few of us that are interested to

a greater degree.

It should be the aquariums who are leading the 'giving' though and should provide more. Some have none! (that is disgraceful) and I like your

thinking that it is disrespectful to the creatures themselves not to be given a wild identity.

That is so true. I wonder why so many have so little info on the stock they keep. If the public arnt that bothered, I see

that as a cop out not a valid excuse to not bother.
The public will not know what they are missing, they should be shown and at least have the option of having the

info.

It is indeed often a pityfull bit of info. Often, if any, it is simply a pic and a name so can tag a name to the specimen in the tank.

Seldom

does it offer any info (useful, interesting, fasinating kind of stuff), but I guess it is true (although is lazy on the aquarium part) that the public dont know what they are

missing and so probably dont think to mention in any feed back sort of thing.

Perhaps they will pick up on this soon!?

Ive noticed this limitation on punchy bite size bits of info........... or lack of them in aquariums. I asked why this was the

case and he answer from sveral of the staff (from the same aquarium) was that the visitors were happy looking. I was supprised. send them the little 'what they do'

things.
