Sea Scorpions (Taurulus bubalis) have different shades of colour: Are they able to change it? say according to

environment? or is it more species related?
thanks Natalie

I'm not sure if they can change it or if so how quickly.... but i have seen the same species as an overall tone of green, blue, brown and puply/pink

so it is the individual that has the variety not the species. Each colour seen was not noticed to change at all... perhaps they dont, perhaps they do, but over large

spans of time. Have to take note in future and see if can determine.

Also have noticed the variety of shades in this little critter, but have assumed it was 'tuned in' to its surroundings........ how long this takes to do

I dont know, but it is a rather good question.

I noticed one that was quite distinctly a pink/purply colour. It was in a pool that had a massive covering of

Corallina officinalis
Seemed to me it was matching its background, but that is/was an assumption as did not see it actually change

colour.
