Hello I use digital still cameras and have a selection of pics i think might suit a magazine for interest. I wondered if there was a
min requirement for reslioution (I know for film, that slides are required/preferred). What is the digital equivilent?

Hello Mel,
If you are to submit them to a magazine, then they are either to have news worthyness, in which case an editor will forsake
quality more so in favour that an image is available at all, or they are to have that quality in resolution that the magazine itself is accustomed to. For this you may need
to enquire the magazines format for digital visual image submission.
Reasonable resolution for magazine is 300dpi. Full gloss art standard is higher.
One
important thing is to save your images as an uncompressed TIFF as it holds & allows transfer of the image in best quality of whatever resolution you took
it.
Would be interesting to know from people who have or do submit in digital, to ascertain if possible what is typically an industry standard minimum resolution (if
there is one). |
